Plot

Plot Summary

We are introduced to our main characters on their first mission together. In the first “we need to make a special effort to fix this” our story’s adversary this time is an ex-Referee Irving Goldblum, who has gone a bit insane. His plan is to travel back into Minus Time and replace Richard the Lionheart on his way back from the Crusades, and thus live out his life. If he did nothing different from the recorded history, there might be no issue. But the likelyhood of that is slim, so when the authorities discover this plan in motion they try to stop it our team is the latest attempt.

Our hero’s go back in time, replacing key people of the period via cosmetic surgery and memory implants, and attempt to locate and stop Goldblum. Mixing into the period as Sir Ivanhoe and his squire, Robin Hood & Little John, they mingle into events of the time. Both realizing how much history romanticized parts of the truth, as well as possibly being the basis of some tales. Jousting & Archery tournaments.

Goldblum is in a misguided attempt to prove a theory of his about time travel theory, but the results could be disasterous. To reach his end he is playing thre long game against the soldiers and their Referee handler. To that end he is utilizing the Sherrif and Andre de la Croix, a woman posing as a male knight, to further his intrigues both against their soldiers from Plus Time and the Prince in the scenario.

During the mission they come across a fellow traveler from Plus Time, Reese Hunter, and realize that there are those that have opted to quietly live in the past, and make a point not to make ripples, the Underground, just enjoying the simpler life.

They get caught up in the scenario that Goldblum had set in motion and end up storming a castle with a band of Robin Hood’s outlaws. With Hunters assistance, they manage to deal with Goldblum, but not without taking losses on the team, and their control officer takes his place, having to now live out the remaining life of Richard, up to his death. They return to Plus Time, due for promotion or retirement as their reward for their efforts. Andre is rescued by Hunter, who sees a kindred spirit, and takes her off into the unknown, looking to educate her in the ways of the world, and of time travel.

Chapter 05

- Lucas returns to tent, to find Goldblum, and Hookers dead body, taunting him
- Hooker enters, alive, with Finn & Bobby, discussions ensue. (EXPOSITION DUMP)
- Revelation that Finn could have been a Ref, prefers the soldiers life, and Hookers eventual doom.
Chapter 06
- Finn & Bobby return to Sherwood Forest, discussing state of things
- Encounter the “Merry Men” and start to take command
- Lucas secures his armor & Hooker as collateral with Issac of York, and his daughter Rebecca.
- Lucas attends the banquet not as Ivanhoe, but as a wandering palmer (priest).
- An argument about the politics of Normans & Saxons ensues, ending with Cedric Ivanhoe's father leaving, Lucas joining him.
- Goldblum sends off Andre to disguise herself as one of De Bracy, and capture Cedric and Roweena, to cause strife and confusion.
Chapter 07
- Finn & Bobby arrive at outlaw camp, confront Marion, and seize control
- Lucas managed to reveal his presence to Cedric, as his “son”, just as Andre attacks.
- Lucas is brained with a mace, and the others are captured.
- Lucas comes to in Hunter’s cabin, revealed to be a deserter, and his tracking implant is down
Chapter 08
- Goldblum explains to Sir Guy, the reason for the ruse with Andre
- Goldblum retires to his quarters, and reminisces on the reasons for his activities. (EXPOSITION DUMP)
- Hooker convinces Rebecca that something has gone wrong with Lucas (Ivanhoe) and they need to go to try and help him
- De Bracy & Bois Guilbert come across Hooker, Isaac & Rebecca on the road, Bois Guilbert intends to take -Rebecca for his desires, and give Isaac to De Bracy for ransom, Hooker tries to intervene but is captured, fearing his foretold death.
Chapter 09
- Hunted explains his history to Lucas in his cabin
- Finn & Bobby review their “troops” status, and work on the state of the mission
Chapter 10
- Andre reminisces about about an experience with the Sheriff, and his relationship with Marion
- Andre and Marcel are on their way to Torquilstone, where De Bracy & Bois Guilbert are, so act as Goldblum's double agents and kill them, weakening Prince Johns position.
- Hooker manages to break free, and escape into the forest, injured and at this point crazed with fear
- Hooker is captured by the Sheriff’s men, and brought to Goldblum, where he is interrogated, and then tortured, to try and get the location of the Referee trying to get him
Chapter 11
- Hunter reveals the tracking ability of the Chronoplate, and Hookers death is discovered via same
- Goldblum takes Hooker to rest in his quarters, securing his weapons, but not the hidden garotte in his armor, Hooker kills himself resolving the paradox. Goldblum decided to use the one bit of info he managed to get (Lucas’s identity) to go back and spook them.
- Hunter & Lucas plate to Finn & Delaney in the outlaw camp, and confer on a plan of action
Chapter 12
- In the Torquilstone dungeons, Isaac tries to bargain for the virtue of daughter, with De Bracy
- Andre informs of the castle coming under siege, looking for Cedric, who De Bracy is shocked to find is apparently in his dungeons. In his shock, Andre attacks and mortally wounds him.
- Outside the siege the commences, with arrow bombardment. Richard and his knights appear on the field, with Goldblum putting another in his suit of armor to draw fire.
- Hunter arrives with machine guns and grenades to assist with the takedown, and provides them with PRU’s (Personnel Retrieval Unit), planning to blanket the field with gunfire, and the one with high-tech armor left standing would be their target. Finn is then sent to Nottingham castle to try and locate and destroy Goldblum’s chronoplate.
- Confusing/Complex Action Sequence Ahead
  - Bobby sprays the field with machinegun fire, and isolates Goldblum as he stands up.
  - Goldblum uses his PRU and clocks back to Nottingham, just as Bobby is drawing a bead with an explosive arrow.
  - Goldblum clicks back to the field, right behind Bobby, killing him.
  - Lucas swings around opening fire in retaliation, but Goldblum has clocked away.
  - Fugue combat begins with Lucas and Goldblum, clocking in and out as each strikes and misses.
  - Finn arrives at the Nottingham courtyard, and proceeds to use machine guns and grenades to perform a clean sweep of the keep, searching for Goldblum’s equipment.
  - Andre flashes back to getting her instructions from Goldblum
  - Andre confronts Bois-Guilbert, but before she can deal with him he is alerted to her agency, in the confusion Marcel is killed. Andre attacks in grief and revenge.
  - Finn continues to make his way through the castle
  - Back at his quarters, Goldblum decides that he needs an edge, and decides to use Andre to end the Fugue.
  - Andre is about to land the killing blow to Bois-Guilbert, when she is clocked out via the PRU Goldblum had given them, her sword connecting with Goldblum’s head, ending matters.
  - Finn bursts in just as this happens, spraying the room with gunfire, leaving his explosive charge and clocking out
Chapter 13
- The Fugue runs down, and Finn & Lucas come together to determine what has happened.
- De Bracy realizes that Andre has left him and not killed him, he takes Rebecca and flees.
- Andre recovers her wits, to be confronted with Hunter appearing, and commandeering the spare Chronoplate before it is destroyed, taking Andre with him.
- The head of De Bracy’s order, confronted by Isaac, decides that Rebecca is a witch, and orders her put on trial and burned.
- De Bracy begs Rebecca to let him champion her in combat, for the chance to live with her, she scorns him.
- Lucas and Finn are approached by their contact posing as Alan-a-dale, who gives them a lose debriefing, and their options.
Chapter 14
- Andre wakes up in Hunters cabin, shocked with the technology around her.
- Hunter shows up and proceeds to explain the concepts of time travel and advanced tech to her, offering her the option to travel with him. She refuses, saying she must first deal with Bois-Guilbert in retaliation for her brother.
Chapter 15
- Hunter returns, informing her of the situation with Rebecca, giving her a PRU, she sets off.
- Andre enters the keep, accepts the role of champion for Rebecca, having to fight Bois-Guilbert representing the order, and they fight.
- As the new Richard draws near, with the intention of cleaning up matters with Andre, Hunter causes a distraction to allow Andre to win, and clocks her out in the confusion afterwards.
Epilogue
- Following up with Lucas post mission.-Back at his old job, Lucas watches the return of the army recruiting teams, and tries to dissuade a young man from joining up. He fails, and in the end decides to follow along and join back up.
